Ol' Buds ...

WDVX Blue Plate Special | photo by: George Middlebrooks

I saw an old friend Monday night. The kind of friend that'll do pretty much anything for you. You know the ones. You pick right up where you left off ... months, or even years before. Well, Mic Harrison is one of those friends. I've know Mic since ... hmmm ... well, since about 1995 or '96. I even lived with he and his wife Mandie for a spell while I was in school (ahem, sort of in school). Pretty gracious of a married couple to allow two early-twenty-something's share their home. I can only imagine what that was like in their eyes/ears. Anyway, Mic is the guy that always has your back. Some friends and I went to a party once where a weird semi-fight broke out in my direction (that sounds like a good way to put it, no?). Well, when Mic heard about it, he was out the front door and on his way to the party to set things straight, or if I remember to "bite someone's ear off". Haha! He didn't even know what had happened yet, but was ready to defend his boy. Needless to say, we stayed home and laughed the rest of the evening away.

Well, all that to say that I had the chance to play with Mic yesterday at the WDVX Blue Plate Special. However I may have butchered Mic's good songs, it was a fun time, and I have no regrets (har) about doing it. Thanks Mic, for the fun and friendship. And to all of you others out there that may read this, check out Mic's records at his site (link below). There are 6 releases to choose from, not to mention the V-Roys releases, the Superdrag, and the High Score records. And for goodness sake, go see 'em live. You won't regret it either.

Mic Harrison and the High Score will play this Friday night (1.28.11) at "WayneStock", and it will be a good time, for a good cause (link also below).
