Upside down, why?

Lately, I have been trying to look at my work in a new way. Until now, I have been trying to place things into themes; such as reflections, landscapes, people, etc... You know, compartmentalizing. Thinking too much. But, now, when I step back and look at the work all together I am seeing overall patterns. That's always interesting. I mean, it happens with everyone, but it's interesting that sometimes the only way you realize your own patterns is to get some time apart from yourself or your work. It happens in life too, I suppose. Sometimes it takes giant shifts to make you realize you are compartmentalizing instead of seeing the whole body of work.

Well, it's been nice to get things out on the table and mix them up. I have found that my work can be quite busy (visually) be it collage or photos (or my actual life, as it were). Lots of layers, and lots of "breaking of the borders". Lots of missing pieces. And lots of "upside-down Ys". The above is an example of how the "upside-down Y" creeps into my work. Without even thinking about it.

Ah, well. What's it matter? It's all in the process, right? It's all in how that process takes you to new places... makes you take a look at what you're doing and why... makes you see the boxes you're creating, and makes you wanna dump them out to see the whole lot together so that you can piece it all back together and make a new or better collection, or at least a better-understood collection.
